The Berlin-Schönefeld Airport (SXF) is located along the southern limits of the city. It is one of Berlin's two international commercial airports, along with the Berlin-Brandenburg Airport (BER). 

Air traffic at Berlin-Tegel Airport (TXL) will cease in October following the opening of the Berlin-Brandenburg Airport. The Berlin-Schönefeld Airport will be integrated into Berlin-Brandenburg Airport and become Terminal T5 of the new airport.

Flights to Berlin-Schöenefeld

The Berlin-Schöenefeld Airport is mainly used by passengers on low-cost airlines, which mainly fly to destinations in Germany and Europe, as well as the typical sun destinations.

Airlines at the Airport

Easy Jet has been using Berlin-Schöenefeld Airport as its base since 2004; it is Easy Jet's second largest flight base. Germanwings also has a large presence at the airport.

The Berlin-Schöenefeld Airport has four terminals, which have been given the designations K, L, M and Q, since the end of March 2020.

Most airlines take off and land at Terminal L, which has three runways.  From the gates of the other terminals, boarding is either on foot or by bus.

Easy Jet is the only airline in Terminal K.

Terminal M is used by Rynair, Condor, Sunexpress, as well as Norwegian Air Shuttle.

Terminal Q houses additional security checkpoints to increase capacity; these are available exclusively to passengers without baggage and who have already checked in online.

In addition to national connections to various cities in Germany, Berlin-Schönefeld serves mainly international flights within Europe, as well as nearby vacation destinations and sun destinations.

Airport Transfers

By Car

The airport is connected to Berlin's city center and the A 10 Berlin ring road via the A 113 freeway. In addition, the B 96a federal highway runs parallel to the A 113 freeway.

Public Transport

The Berlin-Schönefeld Airport is connected to the S-Bahn network by the S9 and S45 S-Bahn lines. The Schönefeld S-Bahn station is about a 5-minute walk away. From here, the S-Bahn runs directly to the city center every 10 minutes. The journey takes about 40 minutes.

Shuttle Buses

The Airport Express RE7 and RB14 runs twice an hour from Berlin city center to Schönefeld Airport. The journey time from Berlin Central Station is only 30 minutes.

Many hotels offer a shuttle service directly to the Berlin-Schönefeld Airport.

Private Transfers

Various companies offer airport transfers by limousine, where the chauffeur picks up the guest at the gate. For more details, please refer to websites, such as bb-shuttle.de and mytransfers.com/de/.

Taxis

Public Transport

S-Bahn

The Schönefeld S-Bahn station is a 5-minute walk away and can be reached by a covered walkway. The S-Bahn runs every 10 minutes and serves both Stadtbahn (S9) and Südring (S45).

Airport Express

The Airport Express RE 7 / RB 14 runs twice an hour between 04:30 and 23:00 from Berlin city center to Schönefeld Airport. The journey time from Berlin Central Station is 30 minutes.

Regional Train

The regional train RB 22 connects Brandenburg's capital Potsdam with the Berlin-Schönefeld Airport every hour.

Taxis and Uber

Taxi

Uber

The company UBER has its headquarters in San Francisco, USA. It is a US service company that arranges services for transportation in many cities worldwide online.

Once you download the app on your phone, you can start using UBER services. When you order an UBER, you will be told the price for the route you want to take. Payment is made by credit card, Eurocard, PayPal, or Google Play.

From Schönefeld (SXF), Terminal 5 to Brandenburg (BER), Terminal T1.

Schönefeld Airport will become Terminal T5 when the new Berlin-Brandenburg Airport opens. To travel between Schönefeld (SXF) and Brandenburg (BER), travelers can use the S-Bahn S9 and S49 or bus lines X7, X71, and N7.

Airport Lounge

The Green Wings Lounge in Terminal K is open daily from 06:00 to 23:30. It can be found after the security checks on the 2nd floor opposite the duty free stores.

An access card for the lounge can be purchased at the entrance. The price is approximately 30 euros for 4 hours.

Shopping, Stores, and Duty Free

The Travel Value & Duty Free Shop is located in the departure area and is open according to the flight schedule. The store is operated by Heinemann Duty Free and has several branches in Berlin-Schönefeld.

The stores in the public area sell items such as eyeglasses, watches, jewelry, gifts, souvenirs, fashion and electronic devices. In six stores you can also get snacks, sweets, and food.

In addition to 10 other restaurants and cafés, Burger King, Augustiner Bräu, and Mövenpick are located in Schönefeld Airport.

Car Rentals

Various major car rental companies such as Avis, Budget, Dollar, Thrifty, Enterprise, Alamo, National, Europcar, Hertz, Sixt, and Buchbinder Rent-a-car have branches in the Berlin-Schöenefeld Airport. They are stationed in the pavilion in front of Terminal K.

Of course, you can also rent a car online in advance, and the vehicle will be available directly upon your arrival.

Carsharing

Car sharing providers are car2go, DriveNow, MILES, WeShare, and SIXT share. They can be found in parking lot P56.

Airport Parking

Parking

A total of 4,000 paid parking spaces are available directly at the airport for arriving and departing passengers in three ground-level parking lots and two parking garages. The three parking lots, P51, P52, and P56, as well as the parking garage P54 are located close to the terminal.

Parking for up to a maximum of 5 minutes is free of charge.

The short-term parking spaces are located in the P52 outdoor parking lot, where parking for up to fifteen minutes costs 3 euros, each additional quarter of an hour also costs 3 euros, and the maximum rate for one day is 72 euros.

Additionally, there are parking lots P3, P51, P54, and P56 with different prices, the maximum rate for 24 hours is about 36 euros.

From walking distance to a short cab ride to hotel shuttles, there are many categories and great choices of hotels around the Berlin-Schönefeld Airport.

Holiday Inn Berlin Conference Center

A 2-minute walk from the Berlin-Schönefeld Airport is the Holiday Inn Berlin Conference Center. The hotel's shuttle buses run regularly from Terminal L and from the airport's train station.

Ibis Budget Berlin- Schönefeld Airport

A 10-minute walk from Schönefeld Airport, the hotel offers a fee-paying shuttle service.

Albergo Hotel Berlin

Located a 10-minute walk from the airport, this hotel offers a free shuttle service.

Meininger Hotel Berlin Airport

A 15-minute walk from the airport is the Meininger Hotel. The hotel offers a free shuttle service.

Intercity Hotel Berlin-Brandenburg

The hotel is a 4-minute walk from the Berlin-Schönefeld Airport and a 5-minute walk from Schönefeld S-Bahn station.

Steigenberger Airport Hotel Berlin

Located directly at Terminal T1 in the new Berlin-Brandenburg Airport, the Steigenberger Airport Hotel will open when the new airport opens. The hotel has a spacious wellness area on the 5th floor.

Additionally, there are numerous inexpensive options, such as bed & breakfasts and various small, sometimes family-run hotels in the vicinity.
